You could tell from their faces: they had seen things they weren't supposed to, gone through things no one their age should ever have to go through, two faces that had lost everything but each other.

He held her hand, refusing to let go.
"If you jump, I jump, remember?"

She looked him in the eye, squeezed his hand, not a single telltale of what they both knew was going to happen.
"That was the one reason I hadn't done that till now."

They both jumped.
